How to measure land area?

It’s mandatory to measure the land area while doing the land business. Square meter or square feet is universal unit of land measurement. But in different places, there may be different land measuring methods or units.In Nepal, usually Terai region has one standard unit of land measurement and mountainous region has the other standard unit. In Terai, land is measured in Kunuwa, Dhur, Kattha and Bigha respectively. Similarly, in hilly region, basic units of measurement are Daam, Paisa, Aana and Ropani. These units of measurements are being continuously used. Please look at the following Area Conversion table to understand the measurements.Area Conversion Table

  • 1 dhur=2.1296 paisa
  • 1 aana= 1.8777 dhur
  • 1 ropani = 1.5023 kattha
  • 1 bigha = 13.3126 ropani
  • 1 hectare= 2.4711 acre
